Hometown Hero

Do you know someone who is making a difference in the community and want to recognize them for their impact? We have the perfect opportunity for you!

You can submit them to be considered for the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds’ "Hometown Hero" program at the 2025 CenterPoint Energy Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger!

A big part of the Thunderbirds' mission is to recognize a local community member making a difference in each city they visit throughout the air show season . If selected as a Hometown Hero, this person will get the incredible opportunity to meet the Thunderbirds and fly with them in the back of one of their F-16s!

Who Qualifies as a Hometown Hero?

  • Wounded warriors recognized for their contributions beyond military service (pending medical clearance).
  • Average citizens who heroically saved a life.
  • Renowned teachers shaping our future.
  • Humanitarian volunteers uplifting the community.
  • Local firefighters, paramedics, or police officers going above and beyond.
  • Mentors and youth program coaches shaping young lives.
  • Individuals working tirelessly with at-risk children.

If you know someone who fits the description, we want to hear from you! Send us an email at [email protected], telling us the person's name and how to contact them, as well as 3-5 sentences about their impact on your community.
