B-29 Superfortress Doc

The B-29 Superfortress Doc is one of only about 3,970 B-29s ever built. Today, it is one of only two B-29s still flying in the world.
Doc was built in Wichita, Kansas during WWII in 1945, it was one of 1,644 B-29s manufactured in Wichita during WWII. In July 1951, Doc was assigned to radar calibration duty. The squadron was known as the Seven Dwarfs. Fast-forward to 1955, and Doc was assigned to target-towing before being reassigned as targets for bomb training a year later. Doc sat in the desert as a target for U.S. Navy target practice for 42 years.
In 1987, Tony Mazzonlini found Doc. It took him 12 years to take procession of Doc from the U.S. Government. After gaining possession of Doc, in 1998, Tony and a crew of volunteers towed Doc out of the desert to begin the lengthy process of restoring Doc to it's former glory.
Doc returned to the skies in July 2016 and made it's air show debut in April 2017. Today, Doc can be found in its hangar in Wichita, KS and on the air show circuit, educating everyone about the history of the B-29.
