June 13 - 14, 2026 | Dayton International Airport
T-33 Shooting Star
Gregory “Wired” Colyer began flying at the age of 7 and has been flying ever since. He earned his license in 1982, while serving in the U.S. Army. After his service, he continued to fly and even appeared in an occasional air show. He started out flying a Beech T-34 and later flew an L-29 and L-39. In 2007, he flew the T-33 and eventually acquired his own in 2008. He now owns three T-33s, which can be seen flying on the air show circuit each year.
T-33
The idea for what eventually became the T-33, started back in 1943 with the XP-80. Modifications led to the XP-80A, YP-80A, and the P-80A. This eventually led to the TF-8C, which flew in 1948 and went on to become known as the T-33. The T-33 served as a trainer for pilots, and was used by the U.S. Military and other foreign military Air Forces.
