USAF F-15 Eagles (Flybys)
June 13 - 14, 2026 | Dayton International Airport
Performing flybys is not one, but two USAF F-15 Eagles from the Louisiana Bayou Militia (159th Fighter Wing)!
The F-15 Eagles are all-weather, highly maneuverable, tactical fighter aircraft that allow the Air Force to maintain air power over the battlefield. The F-15 features a range of electronics and weapons that help it excel in its missions and air fights. The advanced electronic system can detect, track, and attack enemy aircraft. It can help inform a pilot about the surrounding conditions, short-range and long-range threats, and control a variety of weapons.
Operational History of the F-15S
The first F-15 flew in July of 1972, and by 1976, the first Eagle was deemed ready for a combat mission. The single-seat F-15C entered service with the Air Force in 1979. This aircraft came with improvements such as 2,000 pounds of extra internal fuel, the ability to carry exterior conformal fuel tanks, and an increased maximum takeoff weight of 68,000 pounds.
In February 1985 the F-15 Multistage Improvement Program (MSIP) was initiated with the first production of the MSIP F-15C. This aircraft featured improvements such as an upgraded central computer and expanded Tactical Electronic Warfare System.
In total there have been more than 1,500 F-15s built and they are expected to continue to dominate the air until the 2040 timeframe.
